- Six holes were present in the engine block and upper oil pan. Tried several methods to free up the engine so that it could be possible to remove it from the torque converter inside of the transmission. Eventually after hours of work, the engine cylinder head was removed and the pistons were removed so that the engine could turn over some. The engine was replaced with a used engine that had only 11,000 miles and was in immaculate condition. Upon replacement of the engine, I discovered that the left passenger side drive axle was damaged due to a chunk of metal that flew out of the engine. Replaced the drive axle while it was removed during frame separation. All necessary seals were replaced to ensure that the engine is leak tight and will last a long time. Components were replaced such as the turbocharger feed line and the oil return pipe were replaced as a good measure because of the severity of engine failure. The engine was filled with oil of the proper type and amount and the coolant was filled with GM factory coolant. The oil filter was replaced with a GM oil filter. The oil should always be replaced every 4,000 miles regardless of what is left on the oil life counter and regardless of what the manufacturer states. The oil can become very sludged up in modern engines if the oil is not serviced routinely.
