  • Engine oil was leaking, refrigerant gas was leaking, and engine coolant was leaking from the vehicle. The most intensive repair was the resealing of the front cover of the engine, which was leaking some oil from the joints at where it overlaps the cylinder heads and block junction points. Upon assembly, silicone was thoroughly packed into the joint to prevent future leakage. This is unlike the factory, which does not install enough silicone packing to seal the joint area. All surfaces were thoroughly cleaned and dried throughout the procedure. The engine was removed along with the entire powertrain assembly to perform this job. The oil filter adapter seal was beginning to seep some oil and it was replaced while the engine was removed and access was easy. Afterwards, as much engine oil and accumulation of wet dirt from oil leakage was cleaned off as possible. The engine coolant pump was leaking coolant from it's internal shaft seal, and was replaced easily because of the engine oil leakage repairs. The pump was replaced with a factory pump to ensure long life. The air conditioning compressor manifold line set was leaking. The discharge pipe portion was leaking refrigerant gas from a crimp. The system was significantly low on refrigerant. Afterwards, the system was recharged with the proper amount of gas. The air conditioning system now blows very cold. After repairs were completed, the engine and frame assembly were installed into the vehicle. The engine contains new engine oil and a GM oil filter. The cooling system was vacuum filled with factory coolant. The engine was tested for operation and leaks. Nothing wrong was identified.

  • Six holes were present in the engine block and upper oil pan. Tried several methods to free up the engine so that it could be possible to remove it from the torque converter inside of the transmission. Eventually after hours of work, the engine cylinder head was removed and the pistons were removed so that the engine could turn over some. The engine was replaced with a used engine that had only 11,000 miles and was in immaculate condition. Upon replacement of the engine, I discovered that the left passenger side drive axle was damaged due to a chunk of metal that flew out of the engine. Replaced the drive axle while it was removed during frame separation. All necessary seals were replaced to ensure that the engine is leak tight and will last a long time. Components were replaced such as the turbocharger feed line and the oil return pipe were replaced as a good measure because of the severity of engine failure. The engine was filled with oil of the proper type and amount and the coolant was filled with GM factory coolant. The oil filter was replaced with a GM oil filter. The oil should always be replaced every 4,000 miles regardless of what is left on the oil life counter and regardless of what the manufacturer states. The oil can become very sludged up in modern engines if the oil is not serviced routinely.
